We have had some pretty nice weather lately and a few weeks ago, Brandon and the girls took advantage of the weather and drove up to Lake Kachess. This is the lake that we tried to get to when Jen, Bill, and Evan came to visit only we never got there because of the snow! It looks beautiful from the pictures and can't wait to go there myself.
Sydney and Kendall arrived on August 16th, 2006, in Vancouver, Wa. Here are their day to day activites to keep up with family and friends.

Mountain Loop Drive
We decided to take a little mini-vacation and do the mountain loop drive through Washington. We started out going east on Hwy 2 and made our first stop in Leavenworth, Wa. We stayed the night there and had a great time. In the morning we got back on the road and got on 97 North to 153. From here were got onto Hwy 20 which takes you through the North Cascade National forest. We stopped here for the night at Harts Pass and camped at Meadows campgrounds. In the morning we continued on Hwy 20, west back to I-5 and then south to Seattle. Three days and over 400 miles of driving! We had a good time and it was nice to get out of the city. I tried to post the pictures and postings in chronological order, so you could get a sense of how are trip went from beginning to end. Anyone want to visit, we could do it again! We would love to show you all the Northwest has to offer!
Here is how the girls started out the trip!
City Park in Leavenworh
Leavenworth
Our first stop on our trip was a small town called Leavenworth. According to Brandon,
Leavenworth used to be a pretty happening mountain town, but in the 70's they decided to build the new railroad going around the town instead of through it. As a result, the town pretty much died and became a ghost town. Then a few of the locals decided to use their Bavarian heritage to recreate a mini Alps town. Now Leavenworth is a big tourist attraction and the whole town is geared as a little Bavarian town in the the Cascade Mountains. So, we stopped here and stayed at the Obertal Inn. We had good time walking around and we were in town just in time for the annual quilt show! Each little shop had a different quilt displayed in it...but unfortunately we were there on Sunday so many of the shops closed early. We had a good time though in Leavenworth , especially when we first got in town and went to the city park. * See pics above*

First Camp Site - The Meadows
Setting up camp. The girls loved it and were running up and down the little gravel hill between our camp and the truck. Then we realized they weren't outside anymore and when we looked, they were in the truck, front seat..."Driving"
"Meadow" camp site aptly named, although few years
back a fire ravaged the area...as you can tell
We had a great time on our first camping excursion with the girls. Everything went great except the actual sleeping in the tent part. Kendall woke up first around 11:00 and then they both woke up again at 1:00...screaming! So, we put on the Little Mermaid and they calmed down. Finally fell asleep again around 2:00 and slept til morning. Also, all night there were deer wandering our campsite, and eating grass loudly. At one point we think one was running and then didn't realize that our tent was there in the dark because it sounded like he was running full speed at us and then had to leap over us! Crazy. We are looking forward to our next camping trip and hopefully the night will go better next time.
So this next video is pretty funny. After we woke up the next morning, we tried to drive up to this lookout point where supposedly there are great 360 views of all the mountains. The hike from the parking lot was only .5 miles, but on the way up Kendall decided to throw a fit about me not picking her up...so here she is in all her fit glory! Needlesstosay, we turned around and headed back to the car and never made it to the top.
