Matchy Match

Gramie made the girls the coolest matching game. Different bug characters on a blanket with matching discs. Great for toddlers! I think she is going to start working on a numbers and letters one...we can't wait.

As most of you know...Kendall is much more methodical in her play. She likes to stack, organize, put things in their place. So, for Kendall, this game was perfect. You should have seen her the first time she played. She would look at the piece she had in her hand and then you could see her scanning the blanket. Then she would again look at the piece she had and make sure the one she had narrowed it down to was the correct match. Then she would walk over closer to it, check it out one more time for good measure, and carefully place it on the correct match. Then she would gently pat it as if, "there...that is where you are supposed to go."

Sydney on the other hand liked stacking them on top of one another on the nearest circle to her, randomly placing them here and there oblivious of the fact that she was supposed to be matching them up. Eventually she caught on though...

Now, as you will see in the video below, they have become experts and tag team. One pointing to the other where it should go, and the other actually placing it on the blanket. My little smarty pants. They play it at least a couple of times a day and love it.
Thanks Gramie for the great game!

Wild Mountain

We finally found a good breakfast place called "Wild Mountain"
It was good food and good company.

Elmo and Cookie Monster

The girls also got new Elmo and Cookie Monster towels which were a big hit as well

Turtle

Gramie and Grandpa were here this weekend and it was like Christmas all over again! The girls got a new sandbox...affectionately referred to as "Turtle!" They absolutely love him and it is the first thing Sydney asks for when she wakes up, and then continues asking throughout the day. Big hit!

Time for bed with Elmo

Our DVD player is temporarily out of commission, and as luck would have it, Jen brought a portable DVD with her complete with Elmo's World DVD. Before bed time, the three kids would gather around the portable DVD and watch Elmo...and they loved it. Especially the girls. Who knew small TV's with Elmo on it would be so fun!

Picnic

As some of you know, we had visitors this last weekend. Bill, Jen, and Evan came from Salt Lake City to visit us here in Seattle and we had a wonderful time. For those of you who don't know who they are, Jen's mom is married to Brandon's dad...so I guess you could say they are step-siblings...which would make Evan and the girls first cousins! The first day they were here, we headed to Pike Place Market (see pics below) and on Sunday we attempted to do a nature walk at some lake near Snoqualmie Pass. Little did we know that there would still be a TON of snow and a frozen lake...so needlesstosay, we took the scenic route (about a hour and a half detour) getting to Snoqualmie Falls where we had a wonderful picnic. The weather was great and the kids had a blast running around and wearing themselves out. They all three slept the whole way back to Seattle and then we headed out for a pre-Cinco De Mayo celebration with a Mexican dinner. It was a great way to end a great trip! Can't wait til next time.
